Happy New Year

Wow – its 2012 now.  This is the year that Mavis goes to Africa!

This trip has been in my plans for many years now, but the actual date setting and serious planning started a few months ago.  As of today, I will no longer be saying that I’m going to  Africa next year – now I’m going to Africa this year!

I’m sure I am not the only person who will have exciting things happening this year and I would love to hear about your plans.  Do you have travel plans – or wedding plans – or new job plans – or new home plans – or ???

Did you make any new year’s resolutions?  As you know, I don’t make them – but some people do and I’d love to hear yours.

After getting that year in review from Word Press, I notice that they say I’ve posted less than I counted.  I’ll have to look at my calculations again, since I assume they are right and I didn’t write as often as I thought I did.  I counted the number of posts in 2 or 3 of my pages of posts and they all had 20 listed, so I just counted the number of pages to come to my total.  Maybe some of the pages didn’t have 20 or maybe I didn’t count the pages right.  Oh well – I’m still happy with my record for the year.  🙂

On second thought, I just took a look at the total number of posts.  In this year in review, they say I’ve now got a total of 589 posts, but looking in my dashboard, I have a total of 616 posts.  That is a difference of 27 posts, which is exactly the difference between the 336 posts I said I posted and the 309 posts they said I did.  I wonder if other Word Press bloggers checked out the numbers in their review?

It is -8C this morning with gusting winds, so I’m glad it isn’t any colder.  The wind chill is registering as -18C.  The forecast for the next few days is keeping us with much warmer weather than usual, with the low being -14C.  I may not have to drive down to Texas this year.   🙂  It is just about time for Chester and I to go for our first walk of the year.

So far on Africam today, we have seen Wildebeest (the moms and babies finally returned after the lion kill from last week), Elephant, Nyala, Monitor Lizard, Woolly-necked Storks, Egyptian Geese and Goslings, Waterbuck, Terrapin, Impala, Zebra, Duiker, Bushbuck and Lions.  Click here to see all of today’s pictures.

Anyway – the purpose of this post is to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!
