European Vacation – Athens

It was so hot last night that we didn’t sleep well, but got up early to take a city tour.  All we had to eat for breakfast was an apple each that we had brought with us from the Aphrodite.

The tour was very interesting and it ended with an hour to wander around the Acropolis.  Such a beautiful city and even the ruins are looked after.

When we got back to our hotel, we changed rooms.  The one we checked into was the only one available at that time, but they told us there was now a larger one upstairs that we could have – so we took it.  It had a terrace, so we could go out and try to catch a bit of a breeze.  We also had a view of the Acropolis from across the hallway.  At night we could see the colours changing as they put on a light and sound show. We were close enough to hear the music too.

We found an American Restaurant for our dinner tonight.  I ordered a club house sandwich, but said that you don’t get a sandwich like that in America.  I don’t know if that meant it was better or worse or just completely different from what we get back home when we order a club house.

It is so hot that we are constantly drinking water.  It is supposed to cool down to 80F tonight, so hopefully we can get some sleep.

We have pictures of the Acropolis today.  One is a postcard and one I took from inside it.

The view from our hotel was similar to the postcard, although not as close.  I wish I had taken a picture from the window, but don’t seem to have one.

Today was Tuesday July 1st, 1975.
