We had an early wake up call this morning when the people across the hall started having showers at 6:00 am. Good thing the restaurant was open then, so we had our breakfast early.
Unfortunately, the people at the hotel seem to be a little afraid of us, due (I suppose) to the language barrier. They spoke no English and my French was very limited. Neither Alvena nor Karen knew any French at all.
We then headed for Monaco to see the palace and the changing of the guard. We had to park down below the palace and it was quite a walk to get there. The grounds were disappointing as all that we saw there were tourist shops. The changing of the guard was worth the climb though. I don’t have any pictures of it, but I think I took video.
Then we headed for Nice to have lunch and find a laundromat. We met a couple from Edmonton while waiting for the clothes to dry. Amazingly enough, a few hours later we ended up eating dinner in the same restaurant also.
Driving back to our hotel, we had some Frenchmen driving beside us and blowing kisses a few times. One group almost drove us off the road so they could ask us to go with them for a drink. We weren’t impressed with those actions and declined.
Since I had no pictures from today, I decided to find my video. I took a couple of pictures from the TV while playing it. They aren’t great – but here are a couple of pictures of the changing of the guard at Monaco.
Today was Friday July 11th, 1975. I did not indicate any mileage.
