European Vacation – Paris – Day 3

This morning we caught the same bus with the same bus driver and then the same subway.  It was nice to know where we were going. The driver advised us the right place to catch the bus when heading back tonight.

Today we are going to take a boat tour on the Seine River, so we headed over there first.  It was a beautiful day for a boat ride – but we had trouble hearing the guide.  We decided that didn’t really matter since we were just getting a different view of many of the same spots that we saw yesterday on the bus tour.  🙂

I guess we must have looked extra hungry today because a very sweet waiter gave us extra bread for lunch.  I assume we actually were extra hungry because we ate it all too.  🙂

Then we went to the Eiffel Tower where we bought our tickets and headed for the top.  We sure didn’t enjoy the ride up.  They packed everyone in as tightly as they could and the elevator moved very slowly.  We had to get out twice to change to a different elevator – so we just re-arranged and got packed in just as tightly each time.  The view from up top was amazing and worth the trip up.

Then we went to see Napoleon’s tomb.  He was encased in 6 caskets in the basement of a church with a railing around on the first floor to look down.

On the subway ride back to catch our bus to the motel, I noticed that we were riding first class, even though we had 2nd class tickets.  No one has checked our tickets so far, but we’ll watch a little closer from now on.  I’m not sure how I figured that out or if there really is a first and second class ticket on the subway.

I don’t know where we ate our dinner, but I had snails and thought they were delicious.

I took a lot of pictures today, but will just show some of the ones from the boat ride, since that was first.  I’ll show the others on another day.  🙂

I am sure they told us something about the bridge, but I didn’t write anything down.  The Eiffel Tower is in between the columns though.  🙂

I remember there was a story about the statue of liberty being here, but don’t remember what the story was.  And besides – the Eiffel Tower is in this picture too.

And here I get the Eiffel Tower picture and I cut the top off it.  I thought about cutting the top off one of the other pictures and pasting it here, but thought we already had 2 tower tops in here already.  🙂
