It was too hot to sleep last night, so we got an early start this morning and went into town. We had breakfast and then wandered around some shops until 10 am before heading over to get on the tour at 10:15.
Unfortunately they gave us the wrong time for our tour and it had already left at 9:45. They admitted it was their error and they called the bus back to pick us up. We could have easily been there at 9:45 if we had known.
The tour wasn’t very exciting, but I doubt if any city tour would have been after Paris. That was just too hard to follow. The only tourist attraction was Manneken-Pis. Once you’ve taken a picture of it, there was really no place to go.
After the tour we wandered around some more tourist shops and had some lunch before heading off to find Waterloo. It wasn’t far and we were soon there and looking up at the hill with the hundreds of steps to climb to get up there.
There were millions of little bugs on the walk up there. They got in our eyes, mouth and noses and completely covered our bodies. By the time we got to the top they were even worse and the bites were starting to itch. It was probably a nice view from up there, but we just turned around and went back down without even looking at the monument or the view. I remember joking that those bugs probably caused Napoleon to lose the battle.
We then headed back to our room where we washed off the bugs before heading out to have dinner. After dinner we watched TV. The shows were all in English. 🙂
For pictures today, we have Manneken-Pis and some buildings from the tour and the monument from the ground at Waterloo.
Today was Tuesday August 5th, 1975 and we traveled 25 km.
