After breakfast, we went looking for a room for Karen and I for the next 2 nights. We found a place in Sassenheim, which is about midway between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. It is a pretty tiny room, but it is a nice town, so we’ll be fine there. It will seem strange to just have 2 of us for the rest of the time.
On Monday, we plan on going to Rotterdam, so we then drove there to book a room for the next few nights. We found a good place, but they are all booked up for Thursday. We may have to move out for the one night, but are hoping they have a cancellation.
Then it was time to head for the airport, but on the way Alvena wanted to stop at a candy store to get chocolate to take home with her. We got turned around after stopping and then headed the wrong direction to the airport. We finally realized what we had done and got back on track again.
We said our good-byes and Alvena boarded for her trip back home. She was the only one of us who had a job to go back to. We stayed at the airport until the plane left and then headed back to Sassenheim.
On the drive, we could see sailboats out in the fields. We couldn’t see the water they were sailing on, but there were canals running through the fields.
The temperature cooled down quite a bit, so it should be good for sleeping tonight.
Pictures today are of a sailboat in the field and a windmill.
Today is Saturday August 9, 1975 and we traveled 100 km.
