A couple of days ago, I saw a gull floating on the Red River when Chester and I went for our walk. Of course, it was a long way away and hard to see, but the camera did a pretty good job of getting it close enough to see him. I don’t know what kind of gull it is – but assume it is a young one from last year. Quite a few of them in the bird book are spotted the first year.
This morning a Clay-colored Sparrow was singing away in his strange little voice. He nicely stopped to look at me for the picture.
It has been almost 2 weeks since I cut the grass here and it was very long and think and wet today. I got the front yard and boulevard done before work and then did the back yard after work. I didn’t do behind the fence and in the parking area yet, but I couldn’t let the rest of it get any longer. The front was about 6 – 8 inches long and the back was more like 10 inches. With all this rain, it is very thick and I had to slow down to keep the engine running. I don’t like cutting it when it is wet, but there is still more rain in the forecast and it really had to be done.
