More Yellow Birds

Yesterday, I had 2 different yellow birds hold a post long enough for pictures.  I just managed to snap one of the Yellow Warbler and then I was surprised to get a few pictures of the American Goldfinch.  🙂

I normally zoom till it stops and sometimes even less if I really want to at least get one shot – for the Yellow Warbler, I zoomed till it stopped – snapped one pic and was just starting to zoom more when he flew away – so just the one picture.  I still haven’t taken the time to figure out if the extra zoom is still optical or if it is digital.

This was my first picture on the Goldfinch – the pictures are all cropped some and then re-sized.  The next ones are mostly just re-sized with very little cropping.

I haven’t heard anything from the manager at Wal Mart yet, so I’ll tell you a bit of my story – its not a full blown rant yet.

I have a water cooler that I bought about 5-6 years ago.  It always has both hot and cold water available and I just buy the big water bottles to use on it. A few weeks ago, 2 of the taps broke off – the hot and the cold, leaving just the room temperature tap (which I never use) working.  I can still get hot or cold water from it, but it takes more times and is a bit of a nuisance to struggle with.  I tried to find replacement taps without luck, so started looking at a new water cooler.  I found one I liked at Wal Mart.  They had 3 different models with 3 different prices posted under them.  The price of water coolers has jumped quite a bit since I got mine, but they are also quite a bit nicer.  After looking at them, I decided to take the most expensive one, which was marked $175.  It was about $20. more than the one and $40. more than the other one, but this one had a self cleaning function.  I tried to remember the last time I cleaned the other one.

I always check the prices as they are scanned at the cash register, but the water cooler went straight to the $30. for additional warranty so I didn’t see what it scanned at.  When leaving the guy at the door wanted to see my bill, and he said something about it being pretty expensive.  That is when I saw I had been charged $238. for it.  I was in a hurry and had frozen items in my cart, and saw there was a lineup at customer service, so I decided to check it out later.

I phoned and got a lady in that department to check the price for me and she said that there wasn’t even a tag on the shelf for this model.  When I explained to her that I took the most expensive one there, based on the price and the options and she replied that they would have to let me have it for that price.  She sent me back to customer service who said that I should have compared the bar codes on the product and the shelf before assuming that was the price.  The bar code on the shelf is 3 inches from the floor, so I would have had to get on my hands and knees to read it.  I told her that, and that with 3 different items and 3 different prices, it never entered my mind that the one I had chosen wasn’t even listed there.  She said I could bring it back if I wanted the one for $175.

I like the one I chose – but I partially chose it based on the priced that was marked there.  If it had just been in the wrong spot and the higher price was in a different location on that shelf, I could understand why they would not refund the difference to me, but with 3 different coolers and 3 different prices on the shelf, there are not many people who would question the price.

I wrote an e-mail to the manager explaining the situation.  I said I would accept the difference in a gift card to be spent at Wal Mart, but have not received a reply yet.
