Mock Orange

I love my Mock Orange Bush.  I’m just sorry that the flowers only last for about 3 weeks.  We usually end up getting wind or rain which shortens the blooming time though.  I planted it right beside the fort door of my house so I would get the smell of the flowers when it is flowering.

One thing I noticed though is that there is no fruit.  Once the flowers drop off, it is just leaves again.  I hadn’t even thought of that until just now.

The flowers on the mock orange resemble the flowers on an orange tree, which is how it got its name.  The scent is a mild jasmine.  My Mock Orange does not have much scent at all, but when I bought it, I had no idea there were so many varieties of them.  I love it for its flowers, even without the scent though.
