The Bleeding Heart is one of the spring perennial flowering plants. I tried growing it several years ago and it came up for 2 or 3 years and then disappeared forever. I do love seeing the flowers, but haven’t tried it again.
I took these pictures at the English Garden at Assiniboine Park Zoo this spring and saved them to show when things got slow.
These are shade loving plants, so I am not sure why they didn’t like growing in my yard. I may think about giving them another try one day (or year) soon.
While reading a bit about them, I see that there are several varieties and colours of Bleeding Heart, but what I’ve got here is the normal type which is all that I’ve ever seen.
