Grant’s Old Mill

in 1829, Cuthbert Grant built a flour mill on the bank of Sturgeon Creek in Winnipeg.

A replica was built several years ago at the same location, which is a beautiful spot.  I could see myself walking Chester in this area and imagine there should be plenty of wildlife here.  I did not see much in the short time I wandered by taking a look, but I managed to get a couple of pictures.

The website I found on it says it is open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, but I was there earlier so did not see the mill working at all.   You can check out the website here.

The mill is mostly hidden behind the trees, but I think you get a better view of the mill itself from the bridge on Portage Avenue.

I’d be comfortable sitting right here for awhile.  🙂

Sturgeon Creek flows into the Assiniboine River, which then flows into the Red River later on at the Forks.
