Today was the day to get everything done before I head for Kruger. On the list of things to do were to get groceries and supplies and pick up the car. We were also going to see a reptile show.
Penny and I headed over to Avis this morning to see about which car I would be getting later one. Jurek went to the end of the street here to have a game of golf.
Unfortunately, my car will be a standard, because there are no automatic models available – so I will quickly have to remember how to shift gears – using my left hand instead of my right.
We then headed over to a grocery store, where Penny stocked up the cupboards and I picked up what I would need in the park.
After we got back, we took a walk around to see the hippos, the impala and the birds.
Then it was time to head for the reptile show and pick up my car.
The show was very interesting and informative, but I am still not going to play with Boomslang or Black Mamba snakes.
We then picked up the car. It is a tiny silver/grey Hyundai. Penny drove their vehicle back and Jurek went with me to give me tips and to make sure I made it back. It turned out that shifting gears wasn’t really much of a problem. I had more trouble getting the wipers going instead of the turn signal and kept getting too close to the left hand side of the road. I can work on those too. 🙂
Penny and Jurek barbequed sirloin steak and had some great potatoes and beet root. I’ve been eating way to good here. 🙂
We weren’t in Kruger, but we had sightings right on the property where they stay at Hazyview. We saw Hippos (including a tiny baby), a Pied Kingfisher, Egyptian Geese, Wire-tailed Swallow, African Darter, Kurrichane Thrush – looks quite a bit like the American Robin), Crocodile, Impalas, Bronze Mannikins, plus the critters at the reptile show.
