I had a good sleep and was up at 5:00 am, so I could have a cup of coffee before the drive at 6:00 am.
We missed Lions last night that the other vehicle from Nkorho had been able to see, so this morning’s mission was to track them down. Our duo of Cedric (ranger) and Norman (tracker) did track them down too! 🙂 It was a Nkhuma lioness with a young male and we followed them off-road through the bush for awhile before backing off to let another vehicle in.
Along with the lions on the morning drive, we also saw Giraffe, Elephant, Kudu, Warthogs, Steenbok, Duiker, Zebras, Impalas, Wildebeest and Vervet Monkeys.
After the drive and breakfast, I took pictures of Milo and I met Karin, who just returned early from her leave. She isn’t back officially until tomorrow and I was thrilled to get a chance to meet her after all these years. We talked until it was time for me to head out on the bush walk.
We had a nice walk with Cedric pointing out interesting tracks and giving us details on points of interest. We saw several Giraffes on the walk and watched them for awhile.
Before the afternoon drive, I watched a Slender Mongoose in the camp, along with the usual Red-billed Hornbills, Cape Glossy Starlings and other birds.
During the afternoon drive, we saw Wildebeest, Vervet Monkeys, Elephants, Waterbuck, Nyala, Honey Badger, Side-striped Jackals, African Fish Eagle, Marabou Storks, Impalas, a young Hyaena, Steenbok and Kudu.

Another fabulous day and more really great shots. Loved the ellie shots, but the hyena pups stole my heart! 🙂

Thanks Emjay – I agree, that hyaena pup was adorable. He or she was getting very tired waiting for mom to return.

The fever tree blossoms are very attractive. The bird pictures are great. Hyena puppies are pretty cute aren’t they? And the sticky uppy warthog tail is wonderful, to say nothing of the prominent genitalia! All man!
