Fall Colours

Wow – October 1st and the Autumn is well underway.  Everything looks a little different each day when Chester and I walk along the Red River.

Leaves are falling, geese are flocking up to get ready to head south, many of the summer birds have already left and the fall flowers are starting to bloom.

If it wasn’t for the fact that autumn is often very short and winter is soon to come, I would love this time of year.  The days are pleasant and the nights cool down and it is beautiful walking over the crisp leaves that have fallen.  Of course, someone (me) has to clean all the leaves up, but I normally do that by waiting until they are dry and crunchy and I mulch them to leave on the yard.

I took some pictures of the fall colours.  We get mostly different shades of yellow/gold/green/brown here, but sometimes a bit of red creeps into the scene.  I also found a Crow calling out to his buddies and snapped a couple of pics of him.

Stay tuned to Africam.  You never know what excitement awaits, like the Wild Dog pack that showed up at Elephant Plains on Saturday.  That is is one critter I missed while in South Africa.
