Assiniboine Park Zoo, here in Winnipeg is now home to a pair of male Przewalski’s Horses and they were one of the main reasons I headed over to the zoo on Friday. I had to see them of course!
Both horses came over to say hi to me when I arrived so I was able to take a few decent pictures of them. They can’t get right up to you, but came as close as they could so very little zoom was needed.
Apparently there are plans to add females and breed these rare horses in the future.
They are also known as Mongolian Horses and I remember seeing them at a zoo many years ago. I can not remember where it was that I saw them though.
Here is a link to more information on these horses from National Geographic.
Have a great day! I’m going to tune into Africam for as long as I can before having to head to work – after Chester and I take our walk along the Red River.
