I know we were spoiled the last couple of years with mild winters with very little snow – but I enjoyed the spoiling and want to go back to that again. I do not enjoy -35C and colder!
I had a dentist appointment yesterday. Normally I walk to the dentist. It takes me about 1/2 an hour and is usually a pleasant walk. I wasn’t going to walk when it was -38C though. Its just a little too chilly for me. My options were to call a cab (way too expensive for me), take a bus (would still be out in the cold for too long) or drive my own car in rush hour traffic to get there. So, I drove myself. It was pretty slow going, but I left in plenty of time and got there early. The cost of parking a car downtown for a short period of time is about the same as paying bus fare, and the car never really did warm up, but I was out of the wind.
I did get good news on the tooth that I broke last August while I was in South Africa. I was expecting him to say it needed a crown and I would have said no to that. I can’t afford another crown so I would have told him to just pull it out. He said it didn’t look bad and thinks a new filling should fix it up just fine. 🙂
So – I go back to see him in a month to get that done.
The Cedar Waxwings came back once more and I got more pictures of them. 🙂
Chester and I are taking very short walks these days and I sure hope we get a bit of warmth so we can extend them a bit again. He seems satisfied with the short walks, but still has energy to burn.
I think I mentioned the Crocodile vs Cape Buffalo encounter at Idube on Africam from a few days ago. If not, you can see it here. We had been concerned about the Crocodile, but he has been seen since then and appears to be fine. The critters are all pretty tough.
