It was still cloudy on May 2nd when I took today’s pictures, but out in the middle of the Red River there were some birds that I could not ID until I got home and looked at the pictures. I still didn’t know what they were, but decided to google red neck grebe, since I figured they were a grebe and they had red necks. Imagine my surprise to find out that they are Red-necked Grebes. There was also a gull that was different from the normal ones and since it had a black head, I googled black head gull and found a Black-headed Gull that looks like it. I should be in the bird naming business – LOL.
The Black-headed Gull isn’t supposed to be in this area – so it might be something else, but for now that is what I will call him. During migration it is not unusual to have different birds.
So, we have the rising Red River, the big tree across the river, plus the Red-necked Grebes and the Black-headed Gull in pictures today.

I’m going to do a bit of raking in the front yard today since it is above freezing and the sun is shining. 🙂 Then it will be time to get the cams at Africam up – see you there later.
