One of the new exhibits at the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg here is called the Australian Walkabout. At this exhibit, people are allowed in with the Kangaroos and Emus. There is a list of rules that you see when you walk inside, but I noticed that no one stopped to read them, except me. I probably should have taken a picture of the sign.
Luckily there were staff members inside the exhibit and hopefully there is always at least one there. At first there were 2 who were cleaning and who had to constantly ask people to stick to the walkways, but later there was only one who again was repeating the same instructions. Parents were just letting their children run and wander as they pleased and some of the school groups were not supervised at all.
The Emus were right at the entrance to greet everyone, but the Kangaroos were back out of the way and as far as they could get from the people.
Of course I took some pictures. 🙂
This is a nice idea, but I sure hope they can keep these critters safe.
Well, I finally got the rest of my Impatience in the flower bed, I have mowed the lawn and I filled a large lawn bag with twigs and weeds. I laid down a couple of pieces of sod where grass seems to have trouble growing – thanks to Josh and Jamie next door for the sod. I found one more Red Lily bug on my Lilies and quickly disposed of him.
It was great having a nice weekend to be able to get these chores done. There is still a lot to be done, but that is normal and I have a nice long list to work on.
