Assiniboine Park Zoo – Penguin Cove

Penguin Cove is one of the new attractions at the Assiniboine Park Zoo this year.  It is only here until September, so make sure you go if you want to see it.  I’m not sure if they will have it every summer or just this year.

It took awhile to find the exhibit and I talked to others who were looking for it too.  I was thinking it would be much larger than it was and didn’t realize it would be inside.  If you want to see these little guys, just head for the old entrance inside the park and go to the souvenir store at the gate.

It is a very small exhibit with only 3 Penguins that I could see and really very little room for them to move or to swim.

Reading the news release I see that I did see all 3 of the Penguins.  Their names are Tubbs, Sal and Mooshu, but it doesn’t say what happens to them after September.  A forth Penguin named Jelly will be arriving later in the summer.  I’m a little disappointed that they do not have access to sunlight and fresh air  – although since they are behind glass, they might have fresh air coming into their area.

For just $1,000.00, you can book a party in the room with the Penguins for an event.
