Ducklings!

Finally a clutch of ducklings when Chester and I walked along the Red River the other day!  I saw 2 little ones by themselves and they were quite a distance from me, so I was looking for mom.  I finally saw her – so these are Wood Ducklings.  I don’t think that the 2 I saw with mom were were the same 2 that I saw out exploring on their own, but they might have been.  I couldn’t tell if there were more with her because she was behind the tall grasses and bushes at the edge of the river.

Another hot day here today with no sign of rain.  I have already given my new bushes a good soaking and now the flowers and lawn in the front are under the sprinkler.

As August approaches, I am dreaming more and more of South Africa and the amazing time I had there last August.  To make me long to go even more is that a group of people I have met online on a Kruger Facebook page are meeting up this August for a braai.  I would love to meet these people in person.  Many of them have wonderful tales to tell and thousands of pictures after years or even lifetimes of visiting Kruger.  I am sure there will be many, many pictures posted of this event and I will have to settle for looking at them as they are put up.

Have a great day – it’s time for me to get moving now.
