More Ducklings

Now Chester and I have found another Mallard Duck with more ducklings on the Red River.  I am not sure  how many there are, since they kept along the riverbank – but I know at least 4 of them.  These are not new babies, so they have been hiding somewhere up until now.  Four ducklings and mom made a quick appearance for a family photo.

We had a wonderful, much needed rain last night.  Overnight rains are the best!  Water from the hose really doesn’t do much more than keep things alive but rain water gives nourishment and freshens everything up.

I feel bad welcoming the rain after some horrible flash flooding in Alberta and Ontario in the last week, along with other areas as well – but Winnipeg has had a couple of weeks of heat without a drop of rain until now.  I guess I should say that my area of Winnipeg has not had rain.  I was going to look to see how much we got last night and I see that on June 20th, parts of the city had flooding, while my area got next to no rain.  Some parts of the city received 74 ml (4.5 inches) compared to 5 ml (.3 inches) where I live.  I’ve mentioned here before that I do not watch the news on tv or read the newspapers so I had no idea until I tried to find out how much rain fell here last night and I don’t even see that information anywhere.  I live in my own little world!

Time to visit the cameras at Africam – see you there.
