Lilies

When Chester and I took our walk this morning, I noticed several Lilies blooming in some yards.  My Lilies don’t even have buds yet, so I am wondering if the Red Lily Bugs did more damage than I at first though.  Maybe since they were decimated last year, it will take a year or 2 to recover?

Although I haven’t seen a bug on them in ages, the plants do have something eating them – although not badly like last year.  They are also very small plants.  They are not dying – but they really don’t look healthy.

This first one has the most damage from bugs and is the one where I found the last bug a few weeks ago.  It isn’t much taller than the Marigolds and Impatience.

The next one isn’t any taller than the first one, but doesn’t not have as many bite marks.  This is the one that had the most stems other years and there are hardly any this year.

This one is the tallest, but still not as tall as it should be and no sign of buds.  It also has a couple of leaves at the top that are curled up, but no sign of bugs in the leaves.

I am discouraged, but not ready to give up on my Lilies yet and will see how they progress through the rest of the summer.  Next year I may have to make a decision on whether to keep them or not.  Amazing what a little bug can do.

I think I need to relax in front of the cams on Africam.  See you there.
