Two years ago on July 15th, 2011 Chester had his first seizure. The next year was a roller coaster ride with plenty of ups, downs and twists and his vet worked to get the meds adjusted to control them.
By summer last year, it finally seemed to be working and after a seizure on March 15th, he went 4 months without one. Then on July 19th, he had another seizure – just 2 weeks before I was going to be leaving on my trip to Kruger and Sabi Sands in South Africa. I remember phoning the vet in a panic, thinking we would have to adjust the meds again knowing that I would not be there to keep track. The vet said that we would not make any changes and chances are good that he will go another 4 months before having another one at this stage.
Skipping forward one year to July 19 of this year and Chester has been seizure free now for a full year. 🙂
I know he can have more yet – and I still stop what I’m doing to check him when he shakes his head, since every seizure started with a head shake – but for now, he is happy and I am happy.
Happy 1st Anniversary Chester!
Well done Chester 🙂
