During the last week or so (maybe a bit longer), we have had several thunderstorms and lots of heat and humidity. Yesterday though, we also had funnel clouds pass through the south part city and south of the city. I haven’t heard anything about it touching ground in Winnipeg, but the pictures are showing familiar sightings for me except for that funnel pointing to the ground.
So, Winnipeg and south of Winnipeg had tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings. I see on the Environment Canada site, that one did touch down near Morris, which is less than a 1/2 hour drive from Winnipeg. Luckily it was on a farmer’s field and no damage was done.
We did get a thunderstorm last night and it is raining again this morning. Chester and I had a wet walk, but we survived. 🙂
Some very sad news has been heard that 2 young children (one an infant and the other a toddler) were found alone and in critical condition in their home yesterday morning. They were taken to the hospital, where they later died. 😦 Police are looking for their mother. Very little information has been released and I am not sure I even want to know more.
I am just about ready to give up on my Lilies after finding several more Red Lily Bugs on them the other day. Maybe if I didn’t have to work I could be out there checking on them daily to reduce any damage, but I really need low maintenance plants and flowers. I disposed of those bugs as usual of course. I am still going to wait and see if mine ever flower this year. So far there are no buds on them. It does look like my Day Lilies will have a couple of flowers this year though after me already giving up on them. I still plan on removing them when I get to the chores in the front yard.
Freddy, my little Betta fish is doing great. He is such a pretty boy. He even poses for pictures now! 🙂
