One day last week I found a case containing several recorded CD-Rs in the lane behind my house. I picked them up off the lane and put them in the grass where they would be safe from cars until I returned home from work that day or where they might be found by the owner. They were still there when I got home, so I brought them inside and a couple of days later decided to put an ad under lost and found on Kijiji.
A couple of days later, I received an email asking if the first CD was something – I can’t remember the name, since none of them meant anything to me. When I looked, I saw that it was exactly what he was asking for. This morning I dropped it off at his house when Chester and I headed out for our walk. He lives a 2 minute walk from my place if I take the long route. He is new to the neighbourhood and this had been stolen from his vehicle the same day I found it. I also got a chance to talk to him about the neighbourhood petition to the city to have our lanes fixed properly. His house had been one that I had gone to a few times when I was collecting signatures a couple of months ago – but the house was for sale at that time and no one was ever home.
Our big community meeting is coming up on Thursday, when our city councillor and a representative from public works will be in attendance. I am not sure if we will accomplish anything, since once they finally graded the lanes many people put this problem on the back burner – until next spring when it happens all over again.
That big (unknown to me) piece of equipment that had been on the road when Chester and I walked a couple of days ago, was down on the riverbank when we walked yesterday. I still have no idea what it does, since I haven’t seen it in action.
There were also a lot of rowers out on the Red River – so I took their picture.
Notice that it is getting darker during our walk times lately. 😦
