Sunrise and Flowers and Nuts

Sunrise, flowers and nuts are pretty self-explanatory except to clarify that the flowers are Impatience and Clematis and the nuts are the acorns that were in a Squirrel’s nest that fell out of the tree.  I guess the busy little squirrel thought that he could make a huge pile of acorns that would be contained by a little bit of dry grass and some pieces of newspaper.  I found a pile of dry grass, torn newspaper and acorns at the base of my Oak tree yesterday morning.

In other words, the pictures today are of the sunrise yesterday, my Impatience and Clematis and the pile of acorns and dry grass in my front yard.

Tonight is our community meeting with the city about the lanes.  I hope we have enough residents attending to let the city know that the current situation is not acceptable and that they will agree to fix them properly.  I suspect that they are just prepared to tell us what they policy is – which is that the residents pay for improvements, even though the improvements relieve the city of the costs of maintenance and the city will be able to charge more for property taxes because the value of our homes will increase.   Are other cities the same?

  1. In England residents pay for repairs only if it is a private road, but property taxes don’t go up after the repairs or improvments.

    1. Interesting Blue. You should have seen how quickly my taxes jumped up here when my neighbours built a beautiful new home. No changes to my place, but with the new home beside me my property value went up and so did my taxes. I really can’t see anyone buying my old place for what they have it valued – it is still a little 113 year old house with cracking plaster and lath walls.
