The calendar says it is not winter until December 21st – but as usual, winter beat the calender here.
It is currently a little chilly out there and we’ve had more than enough snow to last us the entire winter (but I know there will be more).
That -26C with a Feels Like temperature of -33C is just before noon, which is when I am starting to write this. I’m really looking forward to the -26C with a Feels Like temperature of -39 C for tomorrow morning. 😦 For those of you who don’t know the conversion – 33C is -27.4F and -39C is -38.2F.
I didn’t even look at the temperature when I left the house this morning, but as I pulled out of my parking spot to leave, I saw a pile of plowed snow blocking the exit to my lane. This pile was about 2 1/2 feet high and it was heavy chunks of hard plowed snow. There was no way I could have managed to get my car over that, so I turned around and hoped that the other end of the lane would be ok – and luckily it was. My daughter was heading to work at the same time as I was heading out, so we both had to turn around to get out.
When I returned a couple of hours later, the plow had cleared that area and plowed the entire lane, which then left a similar pile of heavy chunks of snow blocking my parking spot. This pile was only about 1 1/2 feet high, but still too much for my car to attempt, so I parked on the street, carried my groceries into the house and went out with my shovel to clear it away. If cleared fairly soon after plowing, it is fairly easy (although heavy) to move, but if left for a few hours, the entire pile becomes almost as solid as rock and very difficult to shovel. I know this from experience.
Here is Chester in the yard yesterday. Yes, it does look pretty – but!!!
