As mentioned last week – I am on my way to Texas for the weekend. I finished work at 5:00 pm yesterday and Chester and I were on our way immediately. I am looking for some warm weather and I’m going to find it.
At 7:00 pm, we were at the Canada/US border. We had a brief chat with the US border officer and were on our way. He didn’t ask me about the suspicious $900 and something dollars that the Canadian government had just deposited in my bank account.
At 8:30 pm, we drove past Grand Forks, North Dakota. No time to stop – we have a long way to go.
at 10:00 pm, we drove past Fargo, North Dakota. Chester is having a nap in the back seat. I wonder if he will be able to take over driving for awhile when he wakes up so I can have a nap.
At 12:30 am Friday morning, we reached Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We’re making good time, but it is snowing and pretty chilly with a temperature of -17F (or -27C).
I forgot that Chester doesn’t have a driver’s license, so I guess I’m driving all the way. Who needs sleep anyway.
At 5:45 am we reached Kansas City, Missouri/Kansas. The temperature is getting better, but it is right around the freezing point, so there is a mixture of freezing rain and snow coming down.
We went through 4 states within a few miles with Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas by cutting through the corners of each one and I was never sure which state I was in for awhile there. The lack of sleep may be having something to do with that though. We’ve been driving for more than 12 hours and it is nice to see signs of daylight now.
We’re more than 1/2 way there now and on we go!
