Here we are – at the end of March and still buried under mountains of snow. Even though I vow to never shovel after March 1st, I have had to do just that more than once this year and today I shoveled some more.
Due to the volume of snow, I had to shovel it away from the window in the back as well as the back corner of the house to prevent water getting into the basement. I should be cleaning it away all around the house, but I am just tackling the worst spots.
Also, although my friends on Facebook have already seen my report on the sidewalk hurdle development, the rest of the world has not had that privilege 🙂 so I will include that here as well.
I had mentioned that the sidewalk plow had been unable to make it through the snow drifts on the sidewalk near my house and left a 3 foot high hurdle to climb over. A couple of days ago, another plow came along and tried to get past it again. They came from the left and couldn’t get by and then they backed up, went to the other end of the block and came from the right. This one was also unable to get through.
I liked the bunny tracks showing on my snow for the left picture. 🙂
The next morning I saw the extent of the damage done to my neighbour’s fence as well as the new hurdle on the sidewalk.
Here is the results of today’s shoveling in my back yard.
The trail turns just behind Chester and leads to the house. I think that route is shorter than going all the way to the gate and then back along the house and I always choose the shorter route. 🙂
Oh – and two items in the news the last few days.
So which major city can stand proudly and claim, “We had the worst winter this year”?
This is Winnipeg with the Grounds of Violence (sung to the tune of the Sounds of Silence).
