I have now had my FitBit for just under 4 months and I’m happy to say that it still motivates me to keep moving and to slowly make healthy changes to my diet.
In the last week I received notification that I have now lost 15 lbs. 🙂
That is not a lot in 4 months – but I’m happy with it. Now I just have 12.4 lbs to go until I reach my next goal, so I am more than 1/2 there from my starting weight.
Yesterday I made a couple of healthy choices.
1. I often go out for breakfast on Saturday mornings and have a big breakfast consisting of 2 eggs, 2 slices rye toast, 2 strips of bacon, 1 sausage link, 1 slice of ham and a pile of hash browns. The rye toast has no butter, which was a very small step I made a few years ago, but yesterday I had them replace the pile of hash browns with a few slices of tomato. I still felt comfortably full a few hours later and I ate several less calories.
2. I had a couple of errands to run to businesses not far from home. Normally I do not hesitate to hop into the car to go there (even in the summer 😦 ). Yesterday I walked. In a short 40 minutes I walked to 2 businesses, made my purchases and returned home. In that time I made 4794 steps, covered 2.2 miles and had 32 active minutes. The other 8 minutes were spent standing in line at the stores or waiting for traffic lights. During the summer this would take less than 40 minutes because I would not be walking on icy sidewalks and could walk faster.
By making a few small healthy changes and sticking with them I can slowly add more changes and not feel deprived. I know myself well enough to know that if I tried cutting all my bad habits at once, I would certainly not stick with this. I haven’t decided yet what the next change will be or when I will increase my daily step goal. One thing (or step) at a time. 🙂
These pictures have nothing to do with FitBit, but are the skating rink on the Red River going to the Forks. They were taken on a cloudy day.
Maybe some of the people who skate there are wearing FitBits. 🙂
Stay active and have a great day!
