It’s Melting – It’s Really Melting

We have now had a few days of above 0C temperatures and the snow is disappearing!  I can see grass in my yard and the Red River ice is looking like it might be breaking up soon.  The skating trail was closed on the weekend and the warm up huts have been removed.

The sidewalks are getting clear of ice and snow in most spots, but where the ice and snow are left, it is hard packed and very slippery – so my spikes are staying on my shoes for a bit longer.

This path is very wet and messy, so we did not stay on it for long today – I just had to get some pictures.  I love watching the Red River change in the spring – from ice to ice chunks to flowing water.  🙂

The forecast is for highs above 0C for the next 2 weeks with the lows at night below 0C, so this is very encouraging.  So much snow has already disappeared that the rest won’t last long now.
