I finally picked up some flowers to plant in my poor neglected flower bed this morning and got them planted this afternoon.
I still have spaces I could fill in with annuals, but ended up with 3 perennials and just a couple of packs of annuals along with one bigger annual.
The perennials are Fanal Astilbe and I hope they do well. The large annual is a Cala Lily. I have always loved these flowers and hope they will get enough sun in my yard to do well. I see that I should dig them up after the first frost and should be able to plant them again in the spring. 🙂
I also got 4 little petunias and 4 little flowers that didn’t have a name tag – but are often used as a border plant, since they only grow a few inches tall. I have seen them in purple or white and I got the purple.
My late blooming Lilac, my Iris, my Tulips and my Peony are all looking great this year too. 🙂
The little purple flowers in the pot are the ones I mentioned above. I brought the whole planter inside for the winter and in the spring I cut the geraniums back and put the cuts into rooting powder to put right back in the pot. The little pink flowers (whatever they are) are kind of leggy, but I wrapped the stems around a bit – so they look pretty good too.
