Chester and the Mock Orange

The flowers have almost finished and today was the day to give my Mock Orange a much needed pruning.  Although it looked fantastic when all in bloom, the tree would almost fall over in the wind and/or the rain, especially when loaded with flowers.  I have the main branches tied up to my steps, and would hate to have it pull my steps down one day.

This morning, I went out with my pruning shears and pruning saw to see what I could do.  In some spots, I may have been a bit too drastic, but I know it will recover nicely with time to regrow some now and then lots more in the spring.

When I finished, I hauled the branches to the back yard to cut up and dispose of.  It didn’t take long for Chester to discover some of the flowers and before I knew it, he was eating as many of them as he could.  🙂

I took a video to show everyone.  Poor starving dog.  🙂
