Fall Visit to Fort Whyte Alive

The sun finally showed itself today after over 2 weeks of cloud & rain.  Although it was still a bit chilly, I jumped at the chance to head to Fort Whyte to spend a couple of hours this morning.

There are still plenty of Canada Geese and Gulls around as well as a small variety of ducks and of course, the  resident Buffalo and Burrowing Owls.

Some of the geese were bathing normally in the water and a few others were doing strange acrobatics in the water like the one above was.

There were a few muddy puddles to avoid on the trails, but it was nice to be out in the fresh air and walking.  Many of the puddles were actually ice as the temperature was only 1 or 2 C while I was there and it had dipped below zero over night.
