I finally saw deer at Fort Whyte Alive today!
As I walked out of the 2nd building I saw a man & woman coming towards me, followed by 3 deer. I told them that deer were following them and they had no idea until then. We both took some pictures of them as they passed.

I stood and talked to them for awhile before getting started on my walk. I hadn’t gone too far when I saw a single buck standing and watching me. I talked to him and told him I wanted to take his picture. I actually snapped a few pictures and he adjusted his position slightly between shots. The last one I took of him, he really seemed to be saying that was enough – but he still didn’t move and stood there watching me walk away.

I continued walking around another few bends and went up a hill to look around. I saw a single doe walking in the distance and managed to get one picture that was kind of in focus. The one problem with using auto focus is that the camera decides what to focus on and in this instance, it decided to focus on the trees in front of the deer. On the other hand – the 3 does in my first pictures were moving and I wouldn’t have had time to focus myself – so the auto focus got those shots for me.

As I came out of one trail section and headed towards another one, I saw one nervous doe and managed to get one picture of her just before she disappeared into the bush.

I continued my walk around several more bends and finally saw one last doe. At first she was standing part way up a hill, but as I turned the camera on to get a picture, she bounded away without me getting anything.
It was a beautiful day today and I saw more critters and took some nice scenic pictures, but will continue tomorrow.
Beautiful creature X
