It is amazing how days blend into weeks, which blend into months and before you know it – another year has come and gone.
Good-bye to 2015 and hello to 2016.
Chester is doing great. It has been 3 1/2 years since his last seizure. He had to slow down a bit for a few weeks after injuring himself when he got excited about his afternoon walk one day a few months ago, but is feeling just fine now. We are back to our full walks depending on the weather. If it is very cold or if there is much fresh snow, we take shorter walks.
I lost my African Grey Parrot Jewel in May 2015. I had fully expected her to outlive me since her life expectancy is similar to a human – but she was only 18 years old.
I started 2015 approximately 30 lbs heavier than I ended it and am somewhat healthier as a result of wearing a FitBit to encourage me to keep moving. I also adjusted my food intake to help with weight loss. All the eating in December put a couple of those pounds back on – but I fully expect to get back to business and get rid of a few more pounds in 2016.
A couple of things that helped me get my steps in were taking out memberships at the Assiniboine Park Zoo and at Fort Whyte Alive, where I can walk for hours and have interesting scenery to look at. Chester can’t go to either of those places, but he sleeps well when I am not home.
I wrote fewer posts than in other years – often combining similar topics together into one instead of writing 3 or 4. I wrote about the usual – walks along the Red River – my yard – Chester – wildlife, along with the new ones from my memberships at Fort Whyte Alive and Assiniboine Park Zoo.
I finally got my photos from my amazing 2012 trip to Kruger Park and Sabi Sands in South Africa published into a photo book. Speaking of Africa, of course Africam continues to eat up most of my time when I am not at work, walking Chester or working in my yard.
I booked a ride on a hot air balloon (again & again) in the summer, but each time it was cancelled due to wind or rain or something else weather related. In April I can book again and will hopefully get my ride in 2016.
I wonder what awaits us this year. Cheers!
