Our days are too short and the nights too long here in the winter. Most of my walks with Chester are in the dark, when I am unable to take pictures.
Today we delayed the walk and went along the Red River in the daylight. Everything is completely frozen solid on the river now and they have opened up a shortened version of the Red River Mutual Trail. I don’t know how long they plan on making it because it is late opening – but at least the skaters can get out on the river and skate now. 🙂
There had been worries that it would not be open this year due to the mild winter we were having – but Mother Nature pitched in to help and gave us some very frigid days.
I took a couple of pictures of the river this morning. The trail is not visible, but there is lots of ice and snow to see.
This little Chickadee wasn’t along the Red River. He was in my yard and was a little camera shy. I saw him at my little bird feeder and walked away to grab the camera but by the time I got back to the window (about 5 seconds later) he had flown away. I spotted him on my little bush and managed to snap one quick picture before he left.
