The Red River Mutual Trail has opened for 2016. With the warmer than usual winter, it opened later than usual, but was completed very quickly so the short time can be enjoyed as long as possible.
I just took my pictures from my usual vantage point along the Red River, but maybe this year I’ll get on the trail itself to give a different view and to check out the warming huts.

I should have tried to focus on the twigs in front – then the main part of the picture might have been in focus instead of the twigs. But you can see the ice on the right side for skating and the packed snow on the left for walking as the trail goes around the bend.

There are supposed to be some pretty unique warming huts in use and I will see what I can find to take pictures of one day soon.
That’s awesome.
