Our weather this year has real ups and downs. The temperature has gone up to +5C (which is above normal for this time of year) to -28C (which is below normal for this time of year). The amazing thing is that these extremes happened within a few hours.
Some Canada Geese must have received word about the above normal temperatures and decided to return to Winnipeg in February.
On Saturday, February 27th I was at Fort Whyte Alive and was amazed to see 6 Canada Geese on the ice-covered water. They were close to a bit of open water where one of the springs comes bubbling to the surface.

I was unable to find any deer on my walk as maybe they had decided it was time to disappear into the bush also. It was fairly warm that morning, but I could feel the temperature beginning to drop before I left there shortly after noon.

There is always lots to see on a walk there. And yes – the Geese are real. Of course, the Bison, Red Squirrel and Chickadee are also real – but there was never any doubt about them. 🙂
Awesome photos, Mavis!!
