Two Homes for Awhile

It is getting close to possession date for my new apartment, but is still 2 months away from my house being gone.  I am not looking forward to paying the bills for both places for that long, but since it is temporary, I will survive.  🙂

I have sold a few items that I will not need or do not have room for in the apartment and as I clean up, I will find more.  I am also checking out places that will pick up everything left over – either for a charge or for no charge if they can sell many of the items themselves.  Once I have physically moved into the apartment, I will have a better idea of what is going to be left.

Here is the floor plan of my new apartment which is on the 2nd floor.  Although Canada is officially metric – room measurements here are in feet and inches.  New Apartment (1024x836)

Once I get possession on June 1st, I will go in to take more specific measurements, such as distance between windows and walls,  height of windows, location of electrical outlets, etc, so I can figure out what will fit where.  I will also take pictures of the suite.

Packing will begin in earnest once I finish work on June 5th, although I have a few boxes packed already.

Today I cleaned the eaves on the house for the last time and then sold my ladder. 🙂

  1. Your move is quite different from in the U.K. we sell and purchase at the same time and once exchanged move into our respective new homes on the same day. Once settled into my new home will blog how it all goes from start to finish. Have fun de-cluttering. Your home floor plan looks ideal.

  2. Yes Mary, I’ve noticed that your process seems quite different from ours. I think it would be very difficult to move out and move in on the same day – but that does happen in rentals and probably some times with sales also. I am going to have so much stuff to get rid of, that it is much easier being able to come back after I am settled in the new place to take care of the rest of it.
