A Little Bit of Paint and a Walk

Wow – another absolutely beautiful day here today.  After breakfast, I was thinking I should go for a long walk, but then realized that this would be a good day to have my balcony door wide open and paint my filing cabinet.  I have been planning on doing this for awhile- but it has been a little chilly to leave the door and windows open all day.  I had already bought the paint and a little roller and it wouldn’t take too long to get a coat or 2 on it.

Of course, I didn’t take any before pictures, but did manage a couple of mid pictures.  🙂

I’m not even sure what the original colour would be called.  I’d say maybe something between beige and olive?  I want to have it beside my desk in order to possibly get the piles of paper off my table and out of sight, but I didn’t want that ugly old file cabinet out here.

So – black is the new colour and the above pictures were taken after 1 coat had been partially applied.  After that coat was completely applied, I went out for my walk along the Seine River.

It was summer when I moved here, so this is the first view I’ve had of the Seine in the fall.  It still looks pretty good, even without leaves on the trees.  Can see the bird nests and the bat box nicely.

I came back and put a 2nd coat on the cabinet, but I will still have to buy myself a little paintbrush to fill in the seams and the handles obviously.

I will let it sit like this until tomorrow before putting it back together and will look after the rest another day soon.  This old file cabinet doesn’t owe me anything.  I got it free from freecycle about 15 years ago and it was old then.  🙂

    1. Thanks Irene – I agree old furniture is usually more durable than the new ones too. And, yes, even though I am in the city, I can find beautiful places to walk nearby. 🙂

    1. Thanks Mary and I agree – I would much rather be outside in this weather – but I also knew that I would have to do this painting when it was warm enough to air the apartment – so I did both. 🙂
