It was a chilly morning for a walk (-18C), but it was sunny and not much wind, so I headed over to the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Many of the critters enjoy the cold weather and are more active than they are during the summer, when it is more comfortable for us humans.
I got pictures of more than just the Polar Bears, but I had one bear who was quite good at providing some great photos – so today is just that bear in particular, and one shot of a couple more bears. Plus a little surprise in the bears’ swimming pool.
These two were the first Polar Bears I saw and they were quite a distance away from me. Then over to the right and headed my way was my photogenic friend.
He was getting closer with every step and then he looked right at me!
At this point, he came right to the part that has a wire wall, where I could not take his picture and he was in a deep shadow. So, I talked to him for a couple of minutes and headed on my way. What a beauty!
Oh and the surprise in the pool, where I expected to see bears swimming?
This guy was swimming instead.
I just love these beautiful animals. Glad you got so many great snaps Mavis so I got to see them. Glad you had a nice chat with him/her too. I wonder what he was thinking.

Thanks Sue – they are such gorgeous animals and I really love the area where they have to roam. It would be nice to know what he was thinking 🙂
