Catching Up

Christmas and New Year’s Day have come and gone and here we are in 2018.  I wonder how long it will take before I stop writing 2017.  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and has started 2018 safe and happy.

I am currently house and dog sitting my buddy Toby, who belongs to my nephew and his family.  Last summer I stayed here with him for 3 weeks, but this time it is just a few days.  He certainly keeps me busy and off the computer and that doesn’t hurt me a bit.

Toby got quite a few new toys at Christmas and he likes to pretend to bring them to me, but of course I have to try to get  them away from him.  He is such a good-natured dog.  He is a very big boy though and when walking him I have to be prepared for him to insist that he get to meet some people.  He loves everyone!

Here are some pictures of Toby bringing toys for me.

And then a couple of pictures of him showing us how easy it is to get comfortable.

My other activity is still volunteering at the Assiniboine Park Zoo and I love going there.  Today I took pictures of some the beautiful Percheron Horses, one of the gorgeous Tigers and of the adorable White-handed Gibbons.

In a few days I’ll be back home again and if this cold weather doesn’t give us a break soon, it may be time to plan a trip to Dallas.  Who knows – maybe one day I’ll actually go instead of just doing a virtual trip.

Toby just brought me another toy, so I decided I should take a picture of the 2 of us also.

  1. He’s a gorgeous boy and looks so lovable. Benji & i have just started house/dog sitting. All quite by accident for my friends. We only visited at first a few years back but now Benji enjoys taking his bed & food to stay with Tizzy. Lovely photos of your ‘wild’ animals. You are so lucky to live near such an interesting place to volunteer at. Mary & Benji

    1. Thanks Mary. He is a gorgeous boy and he is still quite young and full of energy, so I have been getting a workout with him – LOL. He belongs to my nephew and his family, and they know of my love for dogs, so it seems to fit. I also have a friend who has a smaller, older dog that I will be looking after in a couple of months. And, yes, I am loving the volunteer work at the zoo.
