I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building. When I was sitting at my computer, I head something on my balcony. I looked out the window and saw a Canada Goose perched on the balcony railing. I also noticed that there was another goose on the roof of an apartment building across the street.
A few months ago, I had been told that the people in the suite under mine were complaining about me feeding the birds – so at that time, I removed all the seeds and the water. With a Canada Goose now perched on my balcony, I wondered if I would be getting another complaint.

I was approaching the goose so he/she would fly away, but instead I got a goose hiss! Canada Geese are not afraid of anything – and I didn’t want to be on the receiving side of a goose bite, so I went back inside my apartment and took a photo of him/her from my bedroom window. It was a much better view with a pane of glass in between us.

A few minutes later and my goose decided to fly over and join his/her mate. Soon afterwards, they flew back to my building, but went a bit higher and landed on the roof.

I hope these 2 geese find a safe place for their nest and that they raise a beautiful clutch of goslings.
As it was on my third fairway. ️⛳️

Love Canada, cannot say that I love Canada geese. So much poop! The geese, I mean. Can there be such a thing as we are no longer from Canada geese? Our fault for the global weirding, I guess!
Hope there are no objections to feeding the hummingbirds! Stay safe out there! Cheers, Stumblebum

The geese are pretty smart. They follow the weather so they have the best temperatures as they move around. :). It is ok for me to feed the hummingbirds – almost everyone in this apartment has a feeder up for them. The geese certainly leave poop – but much less than the moose do. :)

maybe the Canada geese down here make more poop because of a poor American diet! I can’t speak to moose Poop. It has no ears!
Glad there has been no communal unhappiness over the hummingbirds! I mean, did they even find time to poop? I will give us some thought.
just plodding through Portugal on the Camino. Could not keep up with your 7 mile per day pace just now, waiting on some medical tests, which may really cut into my step count. And falling behind can be just as bad as stumbling ahead! Hope you and yours are staying well! Cheers, Stumblebum

The weather is beautiful here, so I have taken full advantage of it and have been going for a good walk almost every day.

I love your photos of the goose on your balcony railing. Yesterday we had two ducks walking through the back common area of our townhouses. They were just taking a leisurely stroll like they didn’t have care in the world. I’m not sure where they ended up. I have to do the Appalachian Trail yet, but decided to do a very short one first.

I did all the short trails (some even more than once) before finally taking on the longer ones. I do enjoy the long ones too. Yes – both the ducks and the geese know they are in control - LOL The ducks are somewhat more friendly though. LOL

Thanks so much for writing in! I have thought of you often over the past seeming eternity, but remain outside of the techno-circle of functional literacy! I need to change that, as my daughter just got married! A nice boy, beautiful wedding, east coast weather madness held off long enough for the ceremony and reception and pictures! I was set to drive up to Ottawa (One of my favorite cities) after the big event, but still many local loose ends from my mother-in-law’s passing, and continuing threats of extreme weather between here and there make a road trip problematic! That, and, nine months on, I remain pretty wiped from the radiation treatment.Sins of my youth — multiple back injuries mostly! — are adding to keeping me off the trails! Hard to tell where illness ends and old age begins! I hope that you and your daughter and Daisy the dog are well. I do so miss our days together on the trail! Cheers, Tim George
