The temperature was -7C, it was quite windy and a few flakes of snow were falling when I headed out for a walk. I decided on Assiniboine Forest, thinking the wind wouldn’t be too bad in the trees.
It has been many, many years since I have walked here and back then it was just dirt trails. Now some of the trails are paved, some have wood chips and the original dirt trails are still there. I walked a bit on each today.

There is a little trail I might explore later, but will stick to main one for now. A marker for the orange trail off to the right and a map on the left I will have to go up to see what that is ahead. A scenic view – that would be much prettier in the summer I’m sure. view to the right view to the left – stay off the ice centre view moving along looking back up the hill Someone has put branches up against trees Found a small trail to wander onto Have to duck under some branches and climb over others Last look into the woods
I did that walk in about an hour and according to FitBit, I walked 1.8 miles (2.9 km). There were quite a few people and several dogs so I don’t know if the wildlife stayed away because of the wind or because of the people/dogs – or if there isn’t much wildlife in there now. I didn’t even see or hear any squirrels or Chickadees – both of which are usually everywhere.
I did get to pet a few of the dogs though – so that is always a plus. 🙂
I’ll be back and will hopefully do more of the trails next time.
All of your content is just amazing 🙂
