The senior’s group here in Chilliwack continue to schedule bus rides and although I don’t go on every trip, I do often take quite a few of them. Yesterday it was a trip to the Vancouver Aquarium. I believe I was at the aquarium several years ago when I drove to B.C. to visit my daughter, but the building looks much larger than it was then. Some of the outside exhibits look like they have also been enlarged or at least remodeled. It was a beautiful day.
Our first stop was Sylvia Hotel & Restaurant in Vancouver. I had a very yummy order of fish & chips with a lemon pie for dessert. Just across the street from Sylvia’s was a beach and the ocean (or maybe a bay). After eating we had a few minutes to walk onto the sand, where I took a some photos.
Just a reminder that all of the photos can be seen larger if you click on them.

You know I love the birds and these 3 Gulls were hanging around – so I took their photos. π

Then it was time to head back to our bus so we could continue our trip to the aquarium.

We spent quite a bit of time inside the aquarium, and then headed outside for the outdoor part.

I believe that all of the critters outside are rescues that could not be released back into the wild. I should have asked (to be sure), but I know they do a lot of wildlife rescues, and not all can be released.

These guys sure enjoy playing in the water!

I loved wandering around at the aquarium. We went inside to the gift shop, but I just looked – no purchases for me. π
Back on the bus on the way back to Chilliwack, I saw a very strange looking building and had to snap a photo as we went by.

So – what do you think? Is it an apartment/condo or is it offices – or maybe a combination? I think it looks like large post-it notes are on the upper side and on the other full side that we can see.
I don’t normally take photos of buildings, but on this day I have 4 different buildings shown plus a couple more that are just part of the view when I snapped the last one..

I loved your photos! I had to check the post-it note building. Itβs an apartment building and itβs curved to be a good neighbor and allow light to reach the other buildings.

We have a local aquarium and I can watch the jellies forever. Theyβre fascinating. Love the bird photos as usual!

A yummy order of fish and chips … Before going to the aquarium?! No wonder the fish would not talk to you!
My son and I traveled to Seattle and Vancouver 5 years ago. What a different time that was! Did not see any of the very interesting buildings you spotted, though, Mavis! Our usual evening meal was – you guessed it – fish and chips!
Now that I have my renewed passport, my next drive north will be back to Ottawa for some shawarma! Decidedly not seafood. But Ottawa has the best! Thanks for these pictures! Cheers, Stumblebum
P.S.: a bit past the halfway point on the Camino Frances. Passed Marymac a couple of days ago. Her knee replacement still giving her some grief, I’m afraid! I hope you are well!

Thanks Tim. There are quite a few interesting buildings in Vancouver. They seem to be building new & different ones all the time now. Most seem to be around the downtown area and I have driven past there, but never stopped. It’s a little too big for me to hang around there. I quite enjoy letting the bus driver take us places where we can wander and enjoy. We can’t get fish & chips any fresher than right beside the ocean. I have been picking that as my meals most of the times we go near the sea. I have to get my passport renewed very soon too. I hope it doesn’t take too long when I do because I’d hate to miss a trip south with the seniors (or even a trip on my own – since I am very close to the border here).
Please tell Marymac that I said hi!

Hi Mavis!! I get notifications when your blog is updated or when there are new posts.
I commented here a few days ago complete with a link about that post-it note curvey building. It was built like that to allow light into the neighboring buildings.
It seems my post has disappeared!

Good to hear from you Mary. Thanks for the nteresting information about the curvey buildings and the light in neighbouring buildings. I wouldn’t have thought about that.

Thanks Mary – wordpress often messes up my replies also – hopefully it will post this one and not put both replies up. Thanks for the information on the reason for the curvey building.
