Riding Mountain National Park in Early Fall – day 2, part 2

After relaxing in my room and on the deck, I headed back to the park and headed straight to the Bison enclosure.  I could see the Bison as I entered the gate, but suddenly slammed on my brakes to avoid hitting a Garter Snake right in front of me.  It is so easy to miss the little things when you’re looking at the big things, but I missed him and got some pictures.

He (or she) seemed confused and went back & forth in front of me 3 times before finally slithering off the road.  The tip of the tail doesn’t look right and I am thinking it may have been a recent injury, which is why he could be confused.

Then – on to the Bison.

After leaving the Bison enclosure, I headed for The Spruces to see how things looked for sunset pictures.

I had time to walk & explore and decided to see if I could make it to the little point out there (zoomed in for the next picture).

The little strip of sky was getting smaller & smaller.

I decided not to wait there, but would take a look and see how things were from the Wishing Well Road on my way back to the B&B.

I was chatting with a man from Alberta, while we watched the sunset progress and then it was time to get back to my room.  Tomorrow, we will move onto day 3.
