Right after Teddy, Macy and I had our morning walk, I decided to drive over to Fort Whyte Alive to have another walk. There is still a lot of snow and ice covering much of the trails and the lakes, but walking is ok. Every trail did have some gravel or sand showing and it was easy to avoid the ice and snow.
I looked for the Bald Eagles first, but couldn’t see them. I also zoomed in on the nest and couldn’t see them that way either, but I snapped a photo anyway. This wasn’t the first time I couldn’t see them – but found them in my photos afterwards. I could only find one in each of these photos, but this eagle is on the nest. Actually, my first and last photos today were the eagle nest and one bird is in the nest in both. Last year I could usually find the other eagle in a nearby tree watching over the nest, but he must have been off hunting.

I started my walk around the lakes area and got variety of shots.

Common Redpolls

Some of the photos are cropped in this gallery to fit, but if you click on the photo, you can see the entire picture.
At one point in my walk, I saw hundreds of birds flying. I had no idea what they were since it was a distant mass of birds in flight. Luckily for me, they did land on the tops of several trees and I managed both some flight photos and one or two shots showing that these are Bohemian Waxwings. You can see larger photos by clicking on one and scrolling through.

After my walk, I headed for home so I could post this. My laptop doesn’t have the photo editing needed to re-size or crop the photos so I had to use my desktop.
Enjoyed reading about your walk. You have some interesting birds in your country.
