The Return of Some Birds

This my first Spring in British Columbia and it has been very spring-like since December. I love this weather, but it is so hard to get used to seeing green grass in January along with the arrival of the migrating ducks and geese. Actually a good number of ducks and geese did not even head south.

The temperature was -2 or 3 C when I headed over to Sardis Park/Pond for a walk this morning and the sun was shining brightly. I put a light jacket on (as I have done for most of the “winter” here), grabbed my camera and headed out this morning.

When I got out of the car, I immediately realized that I should have bundled up a little more as the gusting winds made it feel much colder than the indicated temperature. The last 6 1/2 months (since I moved west) had spoiled me, but I survived walking around the pond and taking photos. Back in Winnipeg, the coldest winter days were usually bright & sunny.

Not a great photo, but love the look the male gave me so I had to include it!

Canada Geese heading for a splash-down

Here is the splash-down!

I walked around to where the Geese landed and they waited for me to take a photo. I think the one in the front (to the right) smiled at me.

Above & below are showing what a beautiful day it appeared to be and then I stopped on the far side to take a photo looking back to where I was standing for the above photo.

Although the wind was cold and quite nasty, it was still great to get out and walk.
