After living in Winnipeg (where I was born – many years ago) I am happy that I moved to B.C last year. Many of the winter days in Winnipeg are sunny – which is great for photographs. The main problem with that is that it is also bitterly cold and often with with nasty winds.… Continue reading Walking on a Cloudy (but warm) morning

The Return of Some Birds
This my first Spring in British Columbia and it has been very spring-like since December. I love this weather, but it is so hard to get used to seeing green grass in January along with the arrival of the migrating ducks and geese. Actually a good number of ducks and geese did not even head… Continue reading The Return of Some Birds
Back to Fairfield Island
Although rain was in the forecast, I decided that I needed a good walk, so I headed back to Fairfield Island with my camera. The sky was partly cloudy, but the sun did make its way out to brighten things up. He quickly brought his wing in and looked very majestic instantly.
Ice on the Pond
I headed over to Sardis Park & Pond this morning. It is a beautiful sunny morning with the temperature right at 0C with a slight wind to make it feel a bit cooler than that. So far, I am really loving this winter. The water looks to be a bit chilly this morning, but there… Continue reading Ice on the Pond
Back to the Zoo
This morning I had an appointment with a dentist – just to get to know them and know what they can or will do for me. It looks like their policies are quite similar to the dentist I have been going to for the last few years in Winnipeg. They are going to contact them… Continue reading Back to the Zoo
A Beautiful Day for a Walk in the Zoo
I had a few reasons for moving from Manitoba to B.C. and the weather was one of those reasons. Yesterday it was +9C under a sunny sky while in Winnipeg, it was below zero with snow. In Winnipeg, one of my regular activities was to volunteer at the Assiniboine Park Zoo there and I was… Continue reading A Beautiful Day for a Walk in the Zoo
Chilliwack Summer Ends
In Chilliwack, the summers are warm and partly cloudy and the winters are very cold, wet, and overcast. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 1 °C to 26 °C and is rarely below -6 °C or above 32 °C. Whoever wrote the above has no idea what “very cold” means.… Continue reading Chilliwack Summer Ends
From Cloudy & Smoky to Clear & Cool
The last week or so, it has been very smoky here. I know this is fairly normal, and even though this is my first year here, I know the dry season lasted later than usual. Because it is so dry, there have been fires in the forests and the smoke had blocked my view of… Continue reading From Cloudy & Smoky to Clear & Cool
Walking Around Sardis Pond
I love finding new places to walk, but always enjoy returning to my favourite spots too. Yesterday, it was time to return to Sardis Pond. Last time I was at this pond, there were hundreds of Canada Geese but this time, I could count the total numbers of them on one hand. Before leaving home… Continue reading Walking Around Sardis Pond
A New Section of the Vedder Rotary Trail – part 2
I took so many photos along this trail yesterday that I couldn’t get them all into one post. So, to continue on my walk, I actually missed this guy perched on a tree right along the path. I saw him (or her) as he took flight and landed on a tree on the other side… Continue reading A New Section of the Vedder Rotary Trail – part 2
